Yacht Safety
At GMC Yachting, we are committed to ensuring the highest safety and quality management system for yachts, always complying with all regulations and standards set by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea).
All yachts over 500 GT managed by GMC Yachting have an ISM (International Safety Management). The ISM is a requirement for all commercial yachts over 500Tn that ensures quality control for safety, environmental protection, prevention of human injury or loss of life, and communication between the yacht crew and shore management.
For commercial vessels managed by GMC Yachting under 500GT and over 300GT, we have created a “Mini – ISM”. This customized system ensures that even smaller yachts comply with the strictest safety regulations.
Our management team provides everything a yacht needs from a shore-based organization that complies with the ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code). We inspect the yacht and then send an assessment and plan to the flag state, ensuring that every aspect of safety is covered.
GMC Yachting also offers a 24-hour, 365-day emergency and response service for all our managed vessels. A call to a designated person ashore (DPA) activates this service and sets our response team in motion as required by the ISM code. This system is a great help for yachts in difficult situations, providing emergency technical support, medical advice, rescue services, coast guards, towing companies, and legal advice.
